Well, it's Friday. Yay. Today I leave for Heber, my spider-infested paradise in the middle of nowhere. I will be going alone this time, which is slightly disappointing, but that means more alone time for me. I like alone time, as long as my telephone works and I can get a little chatter with someone if I get too bored. (I did find out also that we get half a wireless connection at Heber, imagine that. Unfortunately, it's a PC-to-PC connection so it really doesn't do much except make my taskbar look pretty.)

I plan this weekend to finish off The Good Guy, which I've been reading some of the time I've been at home and am fairly convinced I can finish this weekend if I don't get my puzzle. (Oh yeah, I indulged and bought this $22 puzzle from jigzoneshop.com, which is this super awesome website that sells every cut of puzzle from like 100 pieces to 24,000(!) pieces. Don't get me wrong, I love doing puzzles, and I have since I was a very young kid, but like everyone else reading this, I believe 24,000 pieces of cardboard is slightly excessive. So, I stuck with a nice 1000-piece cut. Those are pretty easy. I have done 2000 piece puzzles before, but they are a little more difficult, so this works. Wow, a long parenthetical.)

Anyway, yeah, I have done other things up there, like last time I stayed up til midnight watching The Pretender, and I slept til noon. It was brilliant. And, it's a brilliant place to do writing.

My week-long trip to Waldenburg has been put off for a little while, because of some things that are taking place at their house next week. I should be there the week after, but that means good news because I get to go to Grace Crossing. Yay.

My mom is getting on my absolute last nerve. Apparently she thinks because my bf values his friendships, this makes our relationship bad and not going to work out, etc. It is driving me crazy at I wish she would butt out. Personally, I respect him for valuing his friendships. If I was in the same situation, if Michal was having some shindig that she wanted me there for, and I had planned this in advance, and suddenly the bf invites me to do something, I would miss going with him, but I am not going to shift Michal just because of that. That is not fair to her. Anyway, all that to say... GRRRGH. That seems to cover everything. If anyone can hook me up with an alternative place to live for the rest of the summer, PLEASE let me know. I can only stand so much more of this.

Anyway, looong entry today. Thanks for bearing with me.

~mich

Summer is Upon Me

Greetings.

I am going to start my blog off differently this time. I think the way I've started it has gotten old. I need something original, like "Another pretzel untwists," or "Another witticism lies prostrate at the altar of bad taste" or something. You know, something you don't have to be completely wasted (or me, who is not wasted but just perpetually eccentric) to understand.

Anyway, it's Friday, and the week's ending. I finally made it over to Wilder to pay my bills and file some paperwork (just in the nick of time as well!), so I'm officially registered and have payments taken care of for HIST 4162! uber-w00t. Even more exciting was that I got 4 textbooks, a folder, and a 100-leaf notebook for $119.70! I know, it's for one class, and that's a bit extreme, but it is a UD class and I was expecting over $200 for the whole thing. I also went by the Bookstar by U of M to pick up the latest Dean Koontz book. So, I will have lots of fun reading that. I hear it's supposed to be a real nail-biter.

Speaking of tons of fun, this is totally a brand new month, which means I am putting the worries of last month behind me. With the death of my grandmother, my financial aid being screwy, my parents being screwy, the potential closing of the CSC, my Memorial Day weekend fiasco, etc yada bla, I am just glad to be rid of May for another 12 months.

Things are slowly looking up for me this month. Because of the closing of the CSC, and me having nowhere to park and nowhere to live for the Fall semester, Mom is slowly letting her guard down regarding my living situation. Instead of forcing me to live at home completely against my wishes, she is considering letting me live in one of the dorms instead. Coolness, eh? If you have been praying, thanks.

Also, I am thinking of spending some time in Waldenburg again, maybe two or three weeks until around July 4th. That's not a fersure yet, but I will give more details when I get them. I do know I might be going to Heber next weekend, alone since the Metropolis convention is that weekend, but that's okay. I enjoy the solitude (but NOT the spiders crawling on my legs!!!). I will work on my stories, read some books, and play with my doggie daughters. Ahh, life is good.

Well, I should go, this is a LONG entry, lol. I will write again soon.

~mich

What Dreams May Come

Greetings.

Well, another morning unfolds. I continue to deal with the ordeal that is living at home. I need an apartment so bad... with cheap rent... any takers? Please?

Anyway, I woke up after another weird dream. I was apparently on a journey and took Legend with me everywhere I went, though towards the end he was looking more like a stuffed kitty. There wasn't much color except for this purple-blue color that shows up as a night backdrop sometimes, but I rarely, if ever, dream in black and white as most dream experts say we do. Weird, huh? But I digress.

The days unfold soo slowly these days. I am still having a lot of problems with my parents; they seem to think that just because they are in a bad mood, everyone else has to be as well. And, it seems to be working quite well. I just hide away in my room, hoping it will pass soon.

But, hopefully I will be able to spend some time with my grandparents this summer, and also with some of my friends if we ever have this summer retreat that got talked about in the last days of Girls' group. I have to get out of Memphis for awhile.

Well, I must go for now. I will talk to you guys later.

Pax,
mich

Kitty-Cat Love!

Greetings.

Well, today I saw interesting events unfold on either side of the back door to my porch. My cat, Legend, was sitting on the table as he sometimes does, but then he began to meow at me rather insistently when I approached. I looked out the window offhandedly, and I saw this:

I knew immediately that this was a girl cat, mostly because Legend was not growling at her. Also, cats with that type of coloration are only female. So, I tried to call the girl cat over so she and Legend could have a "discussion." (By the way, no worries about kittens here, Legend is fixed and I'm assuming she is too.) However, she didn't seem interested, and when Legend heard my sister's bus coming to the house, he made a mad dash, and eventually the girl cat did too. So, no matchmaking today. Aww. It just goes to show you, kitty cats need companionship too.

Random thought, before I go: Does anyone else have trouble leaving messages on answering machines? I called Chris today telling him that he'd need to take the cab to my house and that I'd give him the number if he needed it, and I felt like I was speaking a language only I could understand. I'm guessing in a few hours he'll call me having one of those "WTF?" moments. But I digress.

I hope all have a great day.

~mich

Friday, May 18, 2007

Greetings.

Well, I thought I'd change the font up, since I can't get the color feature to work on the Look/Feel editor.

Another day unfolds, I guess. I have been trying to write, without much success. I kinda ended up getting stuck in the same place when I wrote it last time, though, so maybe there is still hope for this story. I dunno.

Chris is coming over in a week. w00t. Unfortunately, we can't actually go to Heber because of his work schedule, so we are hanging around at my house and playing with a Wii that he happened to buy the day before yesterday. I am excited, but I am hoping he can go to Heber with us some other weekend. Ruby misses him.

Well, that about does it for me. CYL.

Well, I am finally at home after being away for a week and a half, playing with my favorite Boston Terrier puppy (and Boston Terrier/God-only-knows-what mix old fogey dog) and hanging out with my grandparents in Arkansas. I really like being home, but I kinda miss being at my grandparents. But alas, back to the drawing board.

We are going to Swadaii tonight to celebrate a belated Mother's Day. I gave my mom a card, but thought since she's been in pretty much neurotic mode all week, that I would take Mom someplace nice and pay for it. I got a surprise when my dad said he'd pay instead, since he owes me about $300 at the moment and that means he can pay me less when he finally decides to do so. But still, I am looking forward to eating food so hot my throat will burn and my nose will run for a bit.

And also, on the 25th of this month, the fam and I (and Chris) will go to Heber Springs despite the hell that is being raised over everything. (If you don't know what I'm talking about, you don't need to.) So, a weekend of hanging out in the woods. It is more civilized because we have satellite TV up there, but there is still ancient furniture and the occasional palm-sized wolf spider. (Though the way we go about chasing them reminds me of when the villians find the mice in the first Rescuers movie. Oh, did I mention I love parentheticals? I count four so far. )

I have reason to celebrate today. Lookee here:

I took this today. *is happy she didn't underfeed the kitty* I had a better pic but I startled him and he switched positions.

Well, that about does it. CYL.

~mich

The End Approacheth...

Greetings.

Another day unfoldeth. The creases are unfolding gradually. My grandmother did pass away, as the FaceBook note indicated earlier, but I am starting to be able to cope a little bit better. She was a Christian after all, and she's probably having tea and biscuits with God at the moment. I envy that. I bet God's a wonderful conversationalist.

Anyway, today marks the second-to-last day of the nightmare that was this semester. I get the feeling my GPA will go down pretty far, but I had it coming, I guess. Oh well, next semester will be much better on that count. As far as I know, I am taking History of the Soviet Union this summer to meet a UD history requirement, but also because it will thrill the pants off me to take it. Seriously. I love history and I... well, the Soviet Union wasn't so great, but it's interesting!

Tonight I have a history final at 5:30, and then I'll finish off the Brit Lit take-home final. Then Chris and I will hang out this evening, maybe watch Lost or something. I've decided I like that show, but that I don't really want to join in mid-way through the fifth season and have no clue whatsoever what's going on. And I seriously don't think Chris wants me to be like the little kid everyone hates to watch TV with, who's always saying, "What's that? What's he doing? Why's he doing that?" and so on.

Anyway, that about does it for me for the day. I will try to check in tomorrow, when I am back at home. Though after being without a TV for almost a week now, I might make very good friends indeed with my parents TV.

By the way, anyone not seen Hot Fuzz yet that has a car and wants to go? Let me know. Cab fare is expensive.

Pax,
mich

Spring Fever

Greetings.

Another few days unfold. My apologies for not writing, I have just been busy what with finals coming up and the creative juices flowing as far as my recreational writing has gone.

I can't believe the end of the school year is approaching. It seems like just yesterday I was coming back from winter break with not many exciting things going on. Boy, have things changed!

I have also a new set of problems unfolding. My paternal grandmother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer about 4 months ago. She began taking chemotherapy not long ago, but it wasn't working. So, she ended up in the hospital, pretty much with most of her faculties gone. And now, her systems are shutting down and she's expected to die anytime now. My apologies for not keeping my faithful reader(s) up to date on this, but it's just been so hectic I haven't been able to keep up. So pray for my father, my mother, and my grandfather and uncle.

On the lighter side, I have a few pictures from Spring Banquet. They are also on Chris's Facebook page, but here they are again:

Scary, huh? I was laughing my head off.

He mean bid-ness!

Ghetto Sheki.

A perfect ending.

Well, that does it for me. CYL.

~mich

Glass Capade

Greetings.

Another couple of days unfold. Seems like I'm becoming more and more sporadic with this thing.

Anyway, I've had an interesting couple days. If your wondering about the whole 'glass capade' business, this is due all to the problems I've had with my glasses. Around Tuesday or so, I awoke after a riveting episode of Good Eats, only to find that my earpiece on my glasses had mysteriously fallen off. I called my mom immediately and ask that she remedy the problem, but she was busy until Friday morning. So, I did what I thought was logical: I thought to tape the earpiece back on. Unfortunately, the only tape in my possession was the yellow sticky tape that held the protective covering on my Vaio when it was purchased. Halfway through this, I found the screw and decided to go to the bookstore to find a screwdriver. They didn't have one.

So, I came back to the dorm, thinking I could fix the screw with the power of persuasion (and a good finger). Turns out, the screw got lost for good and the yellow tape was on the glasses. Did pretty good, too.

This morning, my tape needed to be replaced, because it wasn't holding properly. I tried to replace it, and the piece kept falling off, til eventually the tape was so screwy I couldn't get it back on the glasses. So I had to go to the CSC, pretty much in a state of panic. Fortunately, Woodall was there and was able to take me to Eyemasters to get it fixed. Good thing, because I had a lot of things going on that would have to be worked around, etc yadda bla.

Anyway, that seems to be my excitement for the week. Next week will consist of studying my butt off for finals and other things. Friday is my sister's 20th b-day, so Happy b-day to my sis.

Gotta go. Will be back sometime this year.

Finally, time for the weekend! w00t.

This week has been good, though. Chris cooked for us on my one-monther, though I was feeling a little under the weather and I didn't eat all the food til later. He made the best burgers I have ever had in my life. (Perhaps because they had about 50 pounds of seasoning on them.) And perhaps because I am used to just salt on my burgers, this was a pleasant change. We also ate fries, which were seasoned as well. Overall, it was to die for.

This Saturday my mom is having a garage sale of mammoth proportions at Avon. I personally will not be there, I will be babysitting from about 5:00am to 2:00pm or so, but if you feel like coming and partaking of my mom's goodies, please let me know and I'll give you directions. (Friends only, please.)

The Vaio continues to work wonderfully. The Compaq, however, blows some serious wind. For some reason, if I put the power source in, it just falls out. So, I will try to get it fixed, as well as get my short stories off there before I give it to Chris.

Legend is really spooked today. He keeps hiding under the bed and coming out, and going around the house like something's up. Crazy cat.

Well, that about does it for me.
